2025 - 2026 Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analyst certification program

Our certification in Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analysis prepares students to address human movement in all aspects of their lives, bringing a complex and richly creative perspective to the study of the moving body.

Applications due February 15, 2025

Graduates of the program earn the title of CLMA - Certified Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analyst.

In addition to the title of CLMA, our intensive curriculum ensures all graduates leave with over 500 hours of training towards becoming RSME/T's (Registered Somatic Movement Educator/Therapists) through accrediting body ISMETA (International Somatic Movement Educator and Therapist Association)

Our curriculum emphasizes applied movement theory, movement notation and observation, Touch for Neuromuscular Repatterning, building movement-based vocabulary, Creative Systems Theory, class development, and structuring client sessions.

All material is taught and studied through a combination of lecture, movement, and individual exploration.

Program Details

Our program uses a hybrid, intensive-based model made up of five in-person sessions and four remote interim sessions.

In-person sessions are full days of classes, seminars, and labs. Remote interim sessions are more spacious, and usually include one recorded seminar and/or assignment per week. This model allows students to learn “intensively”, take the time to process and integrate their new knowledge, and return to the next in-person session with a deeper understanding of the material.

The program takes 13 months to complete.
